Learning to Talk: Talking to Learn - Demonstrating and Questioning

This video sequence forms part of the Learning to Talk: Talking to Learn CPD resource developed by Clarity Learning for Carmarthenshire LEA in 2010. The resource was developed with the aim of bringing Assessment for Learning (AfL) techniques into the classroom. Using unobtrusive filming techniques, the sequence explores the value of using demonstrating and questioning to help bring a learning experience to life - in this case a rather gruesome lesson about the human digestive system! Please note the lesson was conducted in Welsh and employs English subtitles.

Sing Up Boys!

Sing Up Boys was a project was led by Portsmouth Music Service, as part of the National Singing Programme, Sing Up. A six-week project aimed at engaging 150 8-9 year-old boys, who were all struggling to engage in class, to sing. Each week the boys met with a vocal coach, Peter Hunt, to learn a range of songs with the goal of performing these at Portsmouth Football Club's football stadium at the end of the project. The aim of filming the project was to produce a DVD resource for teachers to support the teaching of singing for boys back in their own schools. This video is the documentary of the boy's musical journey.

Engaging with Looked After Children

This video forms part of Portsmouth City Council's Corporate Parenting Resource, "Understanding Corporate Parenting". The video explores the huge benefits of engaging well with young looked after children; in this case the benefit comes from taking seven young looked after children out for a day's indoor skiing. In the video we hear from corporate parents who explain the difference such 'days out' can make.

Edexcel - "Knowing our Customers" Film

Clarity Learning was asked to produce a film that explored what customer service looked like from the point of view of some of Edexcel's main customer groups: a Head of Department, an Examinations Officer and a Work-based Learning Provider. We learn what it is like to do their jobs and how Edexcel's products, services and customer service support them in their roles...or, in some cases, don't support them well enough!
